Major Investment Banking Firm in Virginia:

Our customer has an internal ASP-based system which uses data from their Microsoft SQL server.  Queries were taking from 2 to 400 seconds to return results.  Their ASP code worked directly with two databases without using any views, functions, or stored procedures.  Therefore, the ASP code was complex and slow.

We rewrote the ASP portion of the system to use a single stored procedure to return all data for a given set of passed arguments.  The stored procedure is rather complex and retrieves data from a variety of views and tables using three cursors and several functions.  The primary design goal was to make the system faster.  The secondary goal was to make the system understandable so the client would be able to maintain and change the code without always needing a consultant.

Both goals were achieved.  Queries now take from 2 to 4 seconds and the client's ASP programmers understand the SQL code.  Slight speed improvements might still be possible, but the secondary goal would be violated in the process.

Non-Profit Organization in Maryland:

Our customer has a small office and cannot afford an in-house IT staff.  Their auditors were keenly interested in the security of the office since non-profit organizations are even more scrutinized by government entities than normal corporations.

We have completely outsourced the IT needs of this organization and have accepted responsibility for maintaining the security and user satisfaction of the network.
